Here I want to share with you some informations that we got from our walk through the hutongs of Beijing together with our guide Mary.
The signs on the old doors from the Chinese last dynasty Qing Dynasty that you see on the pictures are as follows:
1, Lions is symbol of the relatives of the emperor's family.
2. The round shaped stone is symbol for the military officer's family living at that time in the house.
3. The square shaped stone is symbol of the civil officer's family.
4. Four stars on the top of the door means high rank. Two means lower rank.
