KUL HAR MAN I ALLA FALL

som fotograf. Idag var en av de dagar där man verkligen får uppleva det annorlunda och sticka ut på uppdrag. Jag skulle porträttera Eva som har Evas Ullkläder. Jag tänkte att det hade varit kul att få med på bild lite får då hennes kläder är gjorda av 100% ull. Eva ringde en granne och vi fick åka dit. Fåren fick färsk mat och vi hade himla kul att fotografera bland de och riktig tur med vädret. Det var så skönt!
Tack Eva för en trevlig stund och alla fåren med!

RELIGION IN ZANZIBAR

Every school has it's uniform. So while we are in a muslim country even non-muslim girls have to wear the head cover that they then take off after school time.

The dominant religion in Zanzibar is the Islamic though you can find a few followers of Christianity and Hinduism. As a woman you should avoid having naked shoulders in respect for the local customs.
And topless bathing is absolutely not the right thing to do here.
There are several mosques in Stone Town, one on each corner it seems like. So, don't get surprised to be awakened by a chanting man screaming out lout 4 or 5a.m from your nearest mosquee. I will never really understand why they have to scream like this so you get a heart attach in the middle of your sleep. Another thing i don't understand and I have a hard time to accept is why woman or a non-muslim can't enter a mosquee. Why, what is there to hide that one can't get into? And what are they afraid about?

I know a lot of european people don't like to see woman all covered, but I like it. It's like a shower of happy coulours all over. Would't it be for the religions purposes I would see it on a fashion catwalk in Milano or New York. And then those woman, they walk so proudly, so high headed and really, haven't we had that too here in Europe non that long time ago? In Sicily you can still find it.

One night we were in the big park down at the ocean and there were plenty of black dressed woman, which weren't there the night before. Since I am pretty curious I couldn't hold on and went and asked the difference between the them and the other colourfulled women. One of the 3 girls I started to talk to could english and they had just arrived from Oman to spend one month of holidays. Their dressed were covered of stones that reflected so beautifully on the black fabric. So, there we go, I got the good explenation.

I was really looking forward to start with my children shoots again after holidays. First in the studio 2012 is little Diana, 8 month old, with such a lovely flower in the hairs and a adorable skirt. A little ballerina.

THE FORMER SLAVE MARKET IN ZANZIBAR

One of the most intresting sites we visited during our stay in Zanzibar was the former slave market.
Slavery was indeed one of the biggest incomes during the 18 century when Omans ruled on the island.

Caravans started out from Bagamoyo on the mainland coast, travelling as much as 1,000 miles on foot as far as Lake Tanganyika, buying slaves from local rulers on the way, or, more cheaply, simply capturing them. The slaves were chained together and used to carried ivory back to Bagamoyo. The name Bagamoyo means 'lay down your heart;' because it was here that slaves would abandon hope of freedom. Slaves who survived the long trek from the interior were crammed into dhows bound for Zanzibar, and paraded for sale like cattle in the Slave Market.
All of the main racial groups were involved in the slave trade in some way or other. Europeans used slaves in their plantations in the Indian Ocean islands, Arabs were the main traders, and African rulers sold prisoners taken in battle.

In this underground "room" 75 woman were kept captured with few to drink. In the middle there is a canal where the tied water came in twice a day taking and bringing in al sorts of things. Lot of people would become ill or die here.

Being sold into slavery was not a prisoner's worst fate - if a prolonged conflict led to a glut, the Doe tribe north of Bagamoyo had the rather gruesome habit of eating 'excess supplies'.

Sultan Barghash was forced in 1873, under the threat of a British naval bombardment, to sign an edict which made the sea-borne slave trade illegal, and the slave market in Zanzibar was closed, with the Cathedral Church of Christ erected on the site.

Dr. Livingstone was a very important part in that treaty. But the trade continued, particularly on the mainland. Slaving was illegal, but it existed openly until Britain took over the mainland following their defeat of the Germans in the First World War. Many former slaves found that their conditions had hardly changed - they were now simply employed as labourers at very low wage rates in the spice plantations.

This monument was made by a swedish woman called Clara Sörnäs in 1997 to honour all the slaves that died here or were transorted to a horrible life somewhere in Europe, America or Oman.

A GOOD CATCH

Stone Town has a lifely market with a section for fish, meat (beaf and goat), chicken and vegetables. As usually it was really warm when we went there, but fisherman had been up since late in the night and now it was time to see the fish catched.

HAVING A GOOD TIME

What does people do when it's hot and where electricity controls your life. Coz. this is one of the major problems in Zanzibar. It comes and goes whenever Dar Er Salaam wants, coz. that is where the electricity comes from, transported via a cable in the water that was build in the 60'ies.
So young people that are not addicted to computer like we in the western countries find more funny things to do. Maybe a little bit dangerous but at least it's like a free party going on every night.

The water temperature in January might come to 30-32 degrees so don't worry nobody gets a flue.
Foreigners and locals enjoy sitting on the wall and watching the sun go down and people jumping and making funny figures in the air, some of them more brave then the other. There is a good sistem going on. One of the boys controls that nobody is down in the water and another one screams out loud "Go".

NIGHT MARKED

A fishermans life in Zanzibar isn't easy. They go out in the night, come in early in the morning, try to sell later the fish at the fish marked. Get to sleep around 4 hours and go up again to prepar table and food for the night marked situated in front of The House of Wonder, just close to the beaches. Guys are pushing tourists. Prices change according to who the buyer is. And yes I payed definitively too much one night.
But it was a mixture of smell and rumours. People shouting, children crying, woman chatting, tourist enjoying a more affordable temperature. It was a big reunion place for everybody. A few cafés were open where you can sit down and sip a cup of chai masala or spiced chai or why not a ginger soda.

Some places it was very cheap like here to get real homemade food some not.

ON THE BEACH OF STONE TOWN

Stone Town or Zanzibar town as you prefer has some short beaches where you can enjoy watching the daily life. Fishermen preparing their boats, boys playing football at sunset, all kind of boats and ships, children jumping and running in and out from the water, foreigner taking a sun bath halv naked meanwhile muslim girls and boys enjoy a walk fully dressed. It\s a real pleasure just to sit down and watch. Here some of the pictures I took during a week of observation.

This is indeed something crazy we could observe. Big ferry coming to the beach and then trying to load cars.....ehm.... yeah!

DOLPHIN VILLAGE

One of the places and tours we visited during our holidays in Zanzibar was the dolphin village in Kizimkazi. 5.30 in the morning they picked us up from the hotel and we drove from Stone Town to Kizimkazi. Only a few other tourist boats were outside and I am happy for that, because this was one of the few things I disliked of the whole trip. Chasing dolphins to swim with them.
Yes indeed they are free and can actually swim away from us people but I do believe they don't need a bunch of tourist boats chasing them all day long, all year long.
When the captain of our 9 persons little boat said "Now, jump" it was like a race who is first in the water, who is first at swimming, seeing the dolphin. Yes I saw 2 of them, but I am not proud and I hope if you ever consider going to Zanzibar to not join this tours. I don't think its worse the money.

ZANZIBAR BYE BYE

Well save back home after a 2 weeks holidays/job in Zanzibar. Warm weather, happy moments, lots of pictures, wonderful meetings with people.

Of course the difference is huge. Back in Sweden, cold and rain and fever. But here we go I would like to share a first picture with you.

The second week we lived on the West coast in a little place called Bwejuu. There we had a really long white sand beach. Sundays and afternoons children came out to play in the send. Often the older brothers and sister took care of the little ones while parents at work.

AFTER CHRISTMAS

Strange enough Christmas feeling never hit me this year. Easter feelings more, if we look at the weather we have had the last days. So it felt kinda normal to go back to work.
The day started with a company portrait and went on with a modelshooting with Gustaf , who for the very first time was in front of a professional camera and never modelled before.
It's always inspiring to see how certain people are made to be in front of the camera!

Halloween

Sorry for not having posted anything since a whole month. Gosh time flies by. What happened lately?
Well last week-end we hade a lovely day just for the children.

We raised some money for BRIS and the children got some halloween painting on their faces and a picture to remember the day. Here some shots! The total raised amount was 1000:- kronor that we handed over the day after to the BRIS office in town.

We thank very much Daniela and Henrik for painting the kids and the adults, Klara & Co, for sponring the wonderful gost godies and Francesca for baking the witch cake.
It was a really lovely day!

Summer 2011, the island of Farsö on Jyilland in Denmark. We just went off a little ferry and what do we see...an elefant...in the middle of Denmark...an elefant...my eyes plopped out just to see if it was really and elefant. Yes yes, it was. Stop the car. Take out the 70-200 mm, 2.8 and shoot! Ramboline is the name of this cute elefant that spent time eating along the road. Cirkus Dannebrogs just on the other side of the bushes where Ramboline had a good time with herself.

CASTLE MANDAWA

Today while cleaning my desk I found a brochure of the Castle Mandawa, a hotel we stayed in the heart of Rajasthan. Rajasthan is really colourful and is the reagion of the Rajputs. The little town of Mandawas is knows for it's mural frescoes in the havelis and temples. I have to admit that normally I would not have the possibility to sleep in such a luxury place but due to the fact that I was travelling as a press photographer I had the great chance to try this kind of life as well. Our room was amazing with high beds and a marvellous bathroom. Halv of the castle was turned into hotel while the other one was falling apart. Owned by two brothers where the one really cared about the tradition of the maharajas and the other just left it over. It was intresting to see the clear differences between the two parts.

This is one of the guards that you will meet at the entrance of the Castle Mandawa with this traditional clothes.

One evening we went upstairs and have a look of the surroundings. We felt someone was following us.

This mother with her 2 daughters catched us up on the top of one of the towers and asked us if we wanted to take a picture of her. I started to talk with her. She explained us that she had to take care of ther 2 daughters by herself. Her husband died a few years ago and the castle hired her to clean the rooms. So I thought, sure I can take a few picture of you. While travelling in India you have to be prepared that people don't do things without wanting money. In the beginning I got upset about it, but at the end I thought: "It's a job", of course they try to get the best out of it and especially here, in a luxury residence. She left with a big smile and this will always remain in my heart.

And suddenly one day I got a phone call from Norrland. "We would like to take pictures of one of our actors in Gothenburg" said the gentle voice on the other side of Sweden. "Sure, no problem". "We need a picture of him that we can put together as a collage with the pictures of the other actors".
A few days later actor Joakim Hedman from Gothenburg, that also played at Sunset Boulevard at the Gothenburg Opera came smiling to my humble studio with a bag full of clothes and hats.
We tried out a few poses and after one hour I had enough material to send to my customer.
And here is the result! Joakim is the guy with the blue hat.

AMANDA GOES CURIOUS

A wonderful little girl with plenty of energy and curiousity. She loves flowers. So her great parents took some yellow flowers to the studio for the shoot. We played as usually and then suddenly she put the flowers on the little chair and disappeared behind. And up she came and framed herself with the chair. I got in love in this picture, so spontaneous, so real. No fake, no do this, do that. She just did.

13.00   A very nervous Fredrik came into the studio. Second time after a family shoot a few month before.

Skördefest, Harvest Day at Hessel.

During this years summer holidays we were lucky to visit one of the islands attraction. The summer harvest day at Hessel Museum.
Traditional wedding, traditional role play, dancing, old tractors and clothes.
Young and old assembled on a lovely hot summer day out in the country side.
Horses, carriages, food and drinks. Visit of the museum with furniture dated from 1850's.

It was a memorable day.

Time for a new calendar photosession. In heavy rainfalls we decided to take the chanse to make som photos.
Härlanda Tjärn on a late afternoon. Model Michael for the first time in front of the camera as a model did a great job. Rainfall, wind and chilly temperatures.
Fisherman pants and shoes and out in the water of the little lake 5 minutes away from the studio.

Happily it stopped raining after 5 minutes.

Det går bara inte att leva utan honom. Hela kvarteret älskar honom och hans mat.
Jag är nog den första som har blivit beronde.
Det tar mig tillbaka i tiden, när min mor lagade mat i Schweiz. Riktig god mat, med smak, med färska råvaror, förberedd med kärlek.
Fernando har öppnat sitt lilla lunch / catering ställe över ett år sedan och börjar etablerar sig på Solrosgatan i det mysiga Kålltorp, bara några gator från studion.
Då kan ni tänka vad glad jag blir, när det är 11.50. Jag går in på hemsida, kolla dagens menu och sen "travar" jag lycklig mot Coqen. Vi snackar. Den ena grannen kommer in. Den nästa. Vi hejar på varandra. Det börjar bli en vana för många av oss att träffas där.

Fernando lever på catering och på lunchlådor som man kan antingen äta där på plats eller ta med sig hem eller på jobbet. Jag lovar .... maten är varje gång, varje gång en höjdpunkt.

....comon....we might make it..... 17.58....exit motorway....17.59.....Gallvik station ....... 18.03 we find a parking place...i step out.....nobody around.... and then i hear:
"Do you Lars H....want to take......", oh sh..... take the camera, run, run, run, like Forrest Gump. I throw myself literally into the audience. I fell on my but....ouch, up again...can't miss the YES..... I start shooting................I get the YES...., I made it!
Not that you think now that I normally come late to weddings. This was actually not a job, but my friends Greta and Lars got married the same day as my wedding job at Läckö Slott. Time was short. So, I really tried everything to make on time. Happy police didn't stopped us. Guess a few guest will never forget my entrance, smile....me neither.

I think Lars, doesn't get enought food, cause he tries to the the rice in his mouth...

On the roof of the garage, this lovely couple cutted together the love cake!

It was wonderful evening, under the tree, close to the lake. It was full of love. Music, international food, laughter and a great sunset.

Läckö Slott, Sweden,

Saturday, 6th of august 2011

Weather : beautiful, a little bit too much sun for my taste, but I am happy for Kumiko and Pontus, because in the morning it was raining everywhere and I wondered how it would be.
But luck again on our side.

Japan meets Sweden in this beautiful landscape as Läckö Castle at the lake Vänern.

The wedding is hold in the "Kungssalen" - the kings hall. A wonderful room covered by paintings.

I meet Pontus for the first time outside the castle and I see Kumiko for the first time when she comes in with her beautiful dress into the hall just to get married. Her father waits for her at the door and leads her to the marriage counceler.

We take some group pictures outside and the couple pictures around the castle. Unfortunately the time is short and I do my best to get some beautiful bride and groom pictures outside the walls.

In may we visited the Hallwylska Museum in Stockholm. In the middle of the big and busy town of Stockholm you can find a little paradise on his own. This original and fascinating house brings you back 100 years. A family that buildet and furnished the house with the idea of making it a museum already at that time. Original old telephones, a luxyry bathroom, kitchen, and one of the first elevators of the town. This and more you can find at the museum. You can join a tour, that I hardly recommend to get the insider informations. We had a marvellous guide that really was keen on telling us some funny details of the family.

TRULY LOVER TRIO FROM CALIFORNIA

And there we are.... TRULY LOVER TRIO from California guested the Old Style Weekend in Bakamo.
Swedish Stand-Up bass player Anders Höjlund from Gothenburg was invited to join the band during the tour in Sweden this summer.
The band started in Säterdalen the 26th of July and finished the tour yesterday in Alunda.

Marcel Riesco the bandleader and singer rocked together with the fans. A pure rockabilly band that ROCKS and spreads joy.

OLD STYLE WEEKEND IN BAKAMO

Friday night, 5th of August 2011

I visited for the first time in my life an old style week-end. Friday afternoon we arrived and it was pooring down from the sky. Finally it was over and we made our entrance. It was like going back in time. Old mobiles, in all colours, renovated and not. People dressed like in the 40's - 50's, music drilling out from the loudspeakers. Funny beer on sale, t-shirts, car pieces. People were really having fun and had something to talk about, exchange experiences, enjoy life.

So now I am back from my short summer holidays and took me one day off from customers to finish som CD's for them. The telephone starts to ring again but I feel it's still cool and no stress.

FJÄDERHOLM ISLAND , STOCKHOLM MAJ 2011

During a short visit in Stockholm last may I visited for the firt time the little island of Stora Fjäderholmen, about 20 minutes with the boat out on the archipelago. On the island there are several cafés/restaurant. During the spring time birds nest here and wherever you go you see seagulls or gooses. REally cute to see how to take care of their eggs, among all the toursit having picnic and sunbathing.

Handycraft shops and exhibition are part of the attractions on the island. Even a whisky distillery (Mackmyra Swedish Whishy) can be found there.

NEW MEMBER IN THE FAMILY

Exactly 3 years ago Agnes and Arvid came to my old studio for the first time to have taken the parents wedding pictures. This year it was little sister Ruths turn to be photographed with her baptising dress. Nevertheless big brother Arvid and big sister Agnes had a great fun playing all together. So here the best shoots from the session.
Once again I want to point out that children pictures can be that fun and relaxed if the parents are calm and let children be children, without pushing them doing this or that. To force a child to smile in front of the camera or to force them sitting down on a chair will never turn into THAT PICTURE. Children stress and feel the pressure of the parents. I do take all the time that is needed to make the child feel comfortable. Sometimes it takes longer to connect with the child, sometimes it goes fast.
I always give parents compliments when I see how they interacte with their children. It's important to let them know they are doing a good job. Cooperation as in everthing leads to good results.

Björn Skifs tar emot den vackra statyetten

Bland regndroppar, mörka moln, paraply och färgglada regncapes, hyllades Björn Skifs på UkuleleFestivalen 2011 i Flunsåsparken idag.

1700 åskadare stod ut med vädret och sjöng, spelade, lyssnade och gladde sig åt årets artister: Andy Eastwood (England), Uni and her Ukulele (USA), Tobias & Nikolaj (Danmark) och Elvira Bira från Stockholm.

Jag fick i uppdrag av UkuleleKlubben att fotografera festivalen. Kanske beror det på att jag har ett personligt projekt på G att fota så många ukkespelare jag kan.

Elvira Bira fotograferade jag för några år sedan i Stockholm (bilderna finns på bloggen).

70 år, ung, vacker, stark. Mamma Solveig kom förra veckan i studion med sina två döttrar och barnbarnet för att ta porträtt bilder. Döttrarna hade lurat henne. "Jag bli aldrig bra på bild". Hur ofta har man inte hört den mening!
Men hur kan man inte bli bra på bild när man är vacker och har det lilla glimten i ögat.
Nervös och blyg från början, släppte mamma Solveig och hade så ordentligt roligt, det blev till och med en Ronja Röversdotters vårskrik i slutet av sessionen. Sen blev det antagligen ordentligt myspys dag för att fira mamma!

A HINT OF ROMANTICISM

Today's studio shoot with Carola and Daniel, one of the customers that bought my Let's deal deal, 2 weeks ago, went fine fine fine. They wanted a simple couple pictures in the studio, so just to give it a feeling of romantic I added some vignetting in some of the pictures (like the old photographers did once upon a time in the darkroom). Picture with the rings I preferred to take outside with the existing daylight.

Yesterday I was at a little photo fair here in Gothenburg, at Scandinavian Photo. Had the opportunity to see a picture show of the famous bird photographer Brutus Östling. Of course, as usually I ended up buying a few things, this time it was a new reflector for my Elinchrom flashes with 4 different round grids. Today I had finally time to try them out and here is one of the test pictures.
Taken with a 30degree round grid on my flash on the left side of the model, and a golden reflector on the right side of the model. ISO 100, aperture 11, time 1/100.

TUR MÄSSA

Turistmässa 2011 - Göteborg

På torsdag öppnade TUR mässan sina dörrar för fackfolket och lördag+söndag var det öppet för allmenheten. I år var det verkligen mindre folk än vanligt. Mindre monter, mindre erbjudande och det märktes genom att promenera och prata med folk. Här och där var det några tumma montrar. 79 länder ställde (jämtemot 112 från förra årets rekord siffra) och som TUR-fantast som jag är, så blev jag kvar i två dagar.

Här några highlights från mitt besök och det jag fastnade för mest.

SEMESTRA INTE I MAROCKO!

Emmaus tillsammans med PS Praktisk solidaritet hade ett litet monter som vi blev stående ett tag.
En vacker kvinna i 30års ålder serverade te med skumm som vi fick smaka på. En text
SOL, SAND & TORTYR - semestra inte i Marocko fastnade mina ögon för!
Jag blev nyfiken. Det var inte en vanligt monter där man kunde bara boka en resa, tvärtom. Här uppmanade man att inte resa till Marocko, ett diktatur land. Det var inte länge sedan vi hörde på nyheterna om Västsahara och om ett uppror. Marocko ockuperar tyst grannlande sedan 1975.
Vem har inte drömt att besöka Marakesh och den världkända marknaden.

Rabab Amidane i bild. Vacker men en fängslande blick. En stark kvinna, en kvinna som kämpar för sitt land, för sitt folk.
Hon blev mishandlad brutalt i poliscentralen under basaren i Marrakech. Varför? För att hon deltog i en fredlig manifestation. En manifestation för ett fritt Västsahara. Stolt satt hon på mässan och tog emot besökarna som blev nyfiken. Jag hade rejält något att fundera över när jag hälsade och önskade henne lycka till.

GALWAY A LOVELY TOWN IN IRLAND

Found some pictures from last year and I thought I share them with you. We were one week in Irland last Spring. For me it was the second time and I could see the new buildings and the EU money that they used to restore old houses and streets and parks.

Galway is really a special little town on the west coast of Irland. People are lovely and food in the pub, and the music is good.

YOUNG SHEPHARDS

Sicily, Province of Trapani

Shephard Vito and his companion came across my view while driving through the beautiful landscape of the province Trapani on the west coast of Sicily.

"750 sheeps and 13 dogs we have" - tells me Vito (on the left) proudly when I ask him. We produce Ricotta (fresh cheese) and sheep cheese as well. Our farm is a few kilometers from here.

I can't stop thinking that I have hardly seen a shephard in Sweden, who does this job anymore?

Vito has his co-worker from north Africa, he hardly speaks any italian. A lot of young sicilian leave their country because they can't find job and to continue the family farm people have to get cheap working labour.

A few days later we see on tv the news of several boats that arrived in Lampedusa island full of emigrant from Tunisia. Where will all those young people go and work and find their happiness.

But today, in this little piece of Sicily everything isso magic, almost romantic, peacefull beside the 750 sheeps bleating.

Marseille and its surroundings are knows for something called "Calanques". What is that?

It's a natural inlet. The Mediterranean Sea just cuts between the land and forms these magnificent places, like the picture above. French people like to walk and spend their week-ends out in the nature. You will find here a lot of people taking a bath, or just simply enjoy a pic-nic here with the whole family.

In Cassis you will find the entrance to the Port Miou Calanque, really worth trakking and enjoying the sun, the pine trees and the allround atmosphere.

BASILICA LADY OF THE GUARD - MARSEILLE

I am neither christian or religious but intrested in historical buildings when I travel. So the first time I went to Marseille I didn't had time to visit the Basilica the rises above Marseille. On a cold winter day at the end of 2010 finally I made it. After driving winding little road up on the hill, we left the car on the official parking place and climbed up the rest of the stairs. Inside a mess was going on, a lot of people visited the basilica. It's Christimas time.

Candles were litten and thoughts spread to the beloved ones that are not along with us. So did I for my mother.

It's fascinating to enter such a "construction". It's a piece of art, made of hundreds of person and probably or for sure, without the working conditions we have today.

I can admire those imposant buildings as well as get angry by knowing that, they might have better invested the money in food and give it to the poor. But then again, the poor come in here and get a resting moment with themself and the world, and who am I to judge the need of the 1218 builded chapel by the hermit Master Peter. Pilgrim increased over the years. You will find a huge statue of the Blessed Mother carrying her Son, ment to bless the city and its harbour and for all the visitors of Marseille.

Outside of the Basilica you will have a wonderful view over the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Marseille. The Old Port, the mountains and the islands of Frioul and Château d'If.

In the café/restaurant we warm up our frozen bodies. Devoted christians from Africa and Asia serve you good cakes, tea and coffee.

ELIAS OCH MAIKEN

Happy children with a lot of own ideas, played and run in my little studio today. I photographed almost 4 years ago little baby Elias and now he came back with his little sister Maiken. I took down one of my old suitcases and the happy game of hiding started.

Wonderful parents with a lot of patience and no stress at all added the "mys-factor" to the whole session.

1 year exactly today. Half italian half swedish, little Gabriel gave me a tough time in the studio, because everything was just so great to look at and no no no, we didn't wanted to sit down and just have a chat. Wonderful when kids has this energy in these small cute legs and try to walk, fall down on the but and up again, thousands of times.

Southern France, the old part of a lovely mediterranean village.

Door are indeed fascinating me as you may know. So here I choose a garage door, with a hanging yellow cable, a little window with some brown vegetation. My imagination gets trigged. Who works behind that door? Is there an old car inside, or maybe just a bunch of old boxes; a bycykel, an old motorcykel, wine bottles?

Why do they need electriciy from outside? To light a bulb or to work with some tools? Feel free to imaginate a story.

The new skylight down at the harbour, with the lipstick on the left and the new panorama wheel with heated cabins where you have a great view of town. A must even for those who live in town. Just be tourist for ONE day in your own town.

VARBERG - THE BATHHOUSE

When I moved to Sweden in 2000 I visited many places around Gothenburg and south of my new hometown.
Varberg, is a sea town and has a remarkable fortress just on the coastside. The whole city has a special touch of history and water has and does still play a big role for the town. Here you can find different kind of hotels with Spa and just in front of the fortress a wooden construction rises from the water. The bathing house. When I first saw it, I thought I was somehow on the wrong side of the world. The maroccan/arab details mixed with the northen sky light hits one. Admiration, astonishment, curiosity.

Many visits have I done to Varberg in these last ten years; it's just one hour drive away from Gothenburg and well worth several visits, even if it's just to walk on the seaside, take a cup of tea in one of the cozy cafés, or visit the museum in the fortress, or why not, book a spa for a week-end.

The pictures shown here are taking winter 2010, an amazing sunday afternoon.

Picture of the week - no. 4

Every year I travel to Sicily, my fathers country. On this wonderful island you can find a lot of citrus fruits from red oranges (Moro), lemons (limone), mandarins. You will also find a bigger kind of citrus called CEDRO. Normally this fruit has a rougher skin and a sweet white meat. You can make a sallad only with this fruits, some olive oil, peppar and salt. Just delicious.

A wonderful winterday in southern France, very close to Marseille in a little village I was strolling around with the camera and found this beautiful old window and the light that matched like a couple. It seems like the light is waiting for the window to open and say "Hi, how are you? wanna have a coffee?"

Though I can't play the violin, I think it's one of the most lovely instrument that exist, an instrument that can speak, that is sensual and has a story to tell.

PARTILLE TENNIS CLUB - Damkväll

I fredags åkte jag och min kollega Jasper till Tennisklub Partille för att fotografera damgänget i action.

En trevlig kväll med mycket skratt och många bollar i luften.
